The goal of the Sun Peaks Recreational Trail Association (SPRTA) is to promote a healthy community lifestyle and an appreciation of the natural environment through the development, maintenance, and management of recreational trails in Sun Peaks. We are currently focused mainly on mountain bike trails, but have also developed trails for hiking and snowshoeing. The trail network in Sun Peaks has a huge amount of untapped potential and we want to take it to the next level!
While we work closely with both Sun Peaks Resort LLP and the Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality, we are an independent, non-profit, volunteer organisation with the goal of creating free to access trails for everyone in the community to enjoy. 2022 was a hugely successful year for SPRTA, highlighted by the construction of 15km of new trails on Mt. Morrisey.
In 2023 our plan is to continue with additional new trail development, perform important maintenance on local trails, and organize events to bring the community together out on the trails.
Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving and this year it's scheduled for November 29. Donations to SPRTA for Giving Tuesday will go directly to our trail building and maintenance efforts, by helping to fund insurance, the purchase and maintenance of trail building tools, the purchase of trail signage, and more.
