At MMHS, we believe every woman deserves a safe, stable place to call home. Our two housing communities provide more than shelter for 134 women in the greater Downtown Eastside of Vancouver —they offer safety, connection, and the foundation to rebuild lives with dignity and hope.

- $50 — Hosts a coffee morning , creating a welcoming space for women to gather, share stories, and build community.
- $75 — Brings joy to families through summer ice cream parties for moms and kids in our outdoor courtyards.
- $100 — Supports an honorarium for an Indigenous Elder to lead a healing circle, nurturing cultural connection and resilience.
- $125 — P rovides two crucial counselling sessions for a tenant who lacks access to mental health services, helping her navigate personal challenges.
- $250 — Funds a community dinner at one of our buildings, bringing tenants together in friendship and solidarity.

1. How does Mavis McMullen Housing Society use my donations?
Your contributions directly support programming and services for our tenants, including mental health counseling, community meals, and food security initiatives. Every dollar helps us create a safe and empowering environment for women.
2. Are donations to MMHS eligible for a tax receipt?
Yes, donations of $25 or more are eligible for a tax receipt. This receipt can be used to claim a tax credit on your income tax return, making your contribution even more impactful.
3. How will I receive my tax receipt?Â
Tax receipts for one-time donations made online will be emailed to you immediately after your donation. For recurring donations, receipts will be issued in February of the following year. If you prefer to receive your receipt by mail, please ensure your contact information is up to date.
4. What types of donations are eligible for a tax receipt?
Donations made in cash, by credit card, or by cheque are eligible for a tax receipt, provided they do not come with any benefits or advantages in return. This means that if you receive something in exchange for your donation, the amount eligible for the tax receipt may be reduced.
5. Can I donate in someone else's name and still receive a tax receipt?
Tax receipts can only be issued in the name of the true donor—the individual or organization that made the donation. If you wish to donate on behalf of someone else, please provide their details at the time of donation.
