He is one of Cecil Community Centre's most dedicated volunteers.Between Mondays, and Fridays, Dave can usually be found in our Kitchen and Community Room distributing between 60  to 65 hot meals, to our friends, and neighbours in Kensington-Chinatown. Dave just doesn't give out hot meals, he talks with our friends, and neighbours, so that they feel that they belong at Cecil.

Cecil Community Centre is committed to Food Security offering

• Two Annual Community Celebrations will three course meals
• Nutritious snacks, and light meals for all our program, and service participants
• A Community Access Hub that offers public access computers, and WIFI, water, and protein bars
• A Community Garden, and Kitchen from Spring to Fall for Seniors, and Students
• A Housing, and Community Supports Program to prevent evictions through tenant advocacy, and landlord mediation, and help accessing affordable, quality housing
• A Quarterly Community Dinner, and Games Night
• A Small Food Pantry
• A Warming Centre, providing 30 beds when the temperature drops to -15 Celcius

While Cecil is committed to Food Security. The need in 2024 was greater than any we have experienced in our 48 year history.  We never expected the number of Food Delivery Couriers need hot meals from Dave, imagine:

• Working 8 to 12 hours a day delivering food around the City, and not being able to afford food yourself?
• Rotating bills, so that you can pay rent?
• Being a "working oor" parent who uses a foodbank, and going hungry so that you kids don't have to? 

While Cecil works with other not for profits to alleviate the root causes of poverty we need your HELP THIS YEAR MORE THAN EVER to address its impacts.

Your donation of $25 will make it possible for us to provide a hungry neighbour with nutritious snacks for a week.

If you can give a little more, a donation of $50 will provide a newly housed neighbour with a grocery start up kid, while a donation of $100 can go towards our Winter Warming work that continues throughout the cold weather months.
