Georgia Strait Alliance is the only regional marine conservation organization to focus on protecting and restoring the marine environment and promoting the sustainability of the Strait of Georgia, its adjoining waters and communities. Since its grassroots beginnings in Nanaimo in 1990, Georgia Strait Alliance (GSA) has been working collaboratively with communities and across sectors to find long term, evidence based solutions to our region’s most pressing marine and environmental issues, from climate change to pollution from sewage, boating and industry, and overfishing.
Do you believe in a future where diverse species abound in coastal waters, eagles and whales still roam free, children beachcomb with awe, and communities thrive sustainably, in balance with land and sea, in a way many generations to come can enjoy clean air and water too? If you do, join the movement to save the Salish Sea and the species that depend on it for their survival, like orcas and salmon.
By supporting GSA, you will be helping achieve the following goals:
- Better protection for endangered Southern Resident orcas and their habitat.
- Decreased negative environmental impacts from the recreational boating community through the Clean Marine BC program.
- Decreased pollution of the Salish Sea from industrial and residential sources.
- Better protections for our environment through stronger legislation around environmental impacts of industrial and infrastructure projects.
- An educated, engaged, and diverse community of action working together to protect this region!
Help GSA today and share the word. If we can convene people and identify small scale and local solutions, while working to improve provincial climate leadership, we can mobilize greater action to mitigate the climate crisis and the issues affecting this beautiful region. Join us!
