When you're new to a country, you have no network,  no sense of belonging, and it means you have to renegotiate your identity for many of you. 

That was Sara Asalya's experience—and she knows she's not alone. It's why she was inspired to work with Newcomer Women's Services to launch the  Sister2Sister Immigrant Women's Leadership program.

"As an immigrant woman, I experienced firsthand the challenges and struggles many newcomers face when they start a new life from scratch," explains Sara. "I envisioned a program that would create a safe space for immigrant women, regardless of their immigration status, to  feel connected and empowered." 

The program was launched last fall, and it changed the lives of 20 women. One participant,  Leila Naderi, said the program offered her "hope, support and connectivity."

OUR GOAL 

We want to offer that same life-changing experience to 21 women in January 2021.
To do that, we need to raise $44,100 to fund the program.

COVID-19 has been hard on vulnerable populations, including women. The challenges are compounded for newcomers as they adapt to their new home, learn English, and find meaningful work.
