Ingrid and Eric Bronson's love story began amidst the friendly
confines of their workplace in Picton, Ontario. Their romance
blossomed, ultimately culminating in marriage a few years later. In
1983, their family grew with the arrival of their first son, followed
by the joyful births of two daughters in 1984 and 1985.
Fifteen years passed, and with the closure of Prince Edward Heights, the couple found themselves relocated to Orillia. However, deep down, they knew that one day they would return to the charming town of Picton once they retired.
In the early 2000s, life’s journey brought them back to Picton where
they purchased a beautiful century-old home. Inspired by nostalgia,
Dad embarked on a woodworking hobby, dedicated to restoring their home
to its former glory. Meanwhile, Mom enthusiastically participated in
the renovations while also going back to school to become a Personal
Support Worker.
Years went by, and they enjoyed the happy title of "Oma and
Munka" to eleven adoring grandchildren. Yet, just as life seemed
idyllic, the shadow of cancer loomed over the family. The mere mention
of the word evokes fear, but it's only those who have been directly
affected who truly understand how swiftly it can upend one’s world.
In March 2025, Dad was diagnosed with cancer. Despite enduring countless treatments and valiantly fighting against the disease, Eric succumbed in January 2025. The loss devastated our family; the grief felt insurmountable. Just as we were grappling with this heartbreaking tragedy, our beloved mother, Ingrid, was also diagnosed with cancer. Tragically, it wasn’t long before she too departed from our lives, leaving an aching void in our hearts.
Within a span of merely ten months, we lost both of our parents. The
struggle to navigate life without them continues to weigh heavily on
our family.
If you have the ability to support us in raising funds in their
honor, we would be eternally grateful.
Hospice Orillia and Mariposa House Hospice are excited to be partnering on the 2026 annual Hike for Hospice!!
On Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, we will gather in person for the annual Hike for Hospice in support of:
Hospice Orillia and Mariposa House Hospice.
The Hike for Hospice is integral for both organizations as it enhances our sense of community, increases awareness of Hospice Palliative Care, and raises much-needed funds. 100% of the proceeds stay in the Orillia area by directly supporting the services offered by Hospice Orillia and Mariposa House Hospice; these organizations work together to provide services across the continuum of hospice palliative care, from diagnosis through end-of-life, including bereavement support for surviving loved ones.
We look forward to you joining us in person for the 2026 Hike for Hospice. Details on what the day will entail are to follow.
When good people come together for a good cause, the possibilities are endless.
Thank you for your support!

Thank you for supporting the 2026 Hike for Hospice. To reduce the cost of hosting this event, Charity Village has provided us with a free platform where we only pay a minimal fee of 2% to process the donations (compared to 5.5% - 9% through other platforms).
As a result, you will notice that there is an option to help support Charity Village by adding a tip to your donation. Please be sure to review this carefully prior to completing your transaction. This tip is not mandatory and you are invited to adjust the tip amount, including making it $0.
Regardless of the amount of a tip you choose, should you choose one, your donation amount is what will be applied to the total amount raised for the 2026 Hike for Hospice tally.
Thank you again for your support!
