Students Are Not Statistics.
Let's Give Them What They Need to Succeed. 

If the pandemic has taught us anything, it is that schools are so much more than places to learn math and science. They are places of community and belonging, where everyone feels safe. Or at least, that’s what they should be. 

We have spoken with over 100 schools since September and what they are sharing is disturbing. Students are anxious and lonely. They are struggling to participate in class or even self-regulate. The worst instances of this unaddressed “social-emotional malnutrition” are in recent headlines, highlighting violence and aggression:

Students can't wait any longer for the resources they need.

Our schools aren’t statistics — let’s give our students what they need to succeed.

Our goal this year is to engage 1000 students, parents, and teachers across Ontario with the skills they need to improve the underlying conditions which contribute to school violence:

• Self-regulation skills to regulate emotions in healthy ways

• Perspective-taking and conflict-management strategies

• Creating school conditions that foster belonging for all students, particularly those from marginalized communities
